Twitch
1 in 365
A day in the life of 4 pop star come glamour girls, plus one additional dancer and a character who injected humour and narrative into the show. There was huge energy and the choreography would have been perfect for a pop video. A snappy, violent and aggressive rendition of the female role in glamour circles, set to thumping techno. But just when interesting interactions, between duos and trios, were beginning the four went back to dancing in a line. It amused the audience but unfortunately, Twitch's 1 in 365 left me impressed by their endurance but a little bored.

Temporal Resident
Temporal Resident was an interesting and thoughtful duet which triggered more of a cerebral impact than provoking an immediate, aesthetic response. Rikke A. Sundberg's choreography was well developed and the use of space was controlled. One dancer repeatedly traced a curved line across the stage, cutting back across the diagonal. Each dancer had a clear repertoire of moves which nearing the end began to overlap and the space became shared. Sayaka Tamagawa's dancing was particularly strong and expressive. Overall the serene complexity of the piece drew me in but nothing in me was greatly stirred.

Dancing with Dinosaurs
Dancing with Dinosaurs made me feel like a parent having to sit through their teenager's A level drama production. Not that I have anything against teenagers, but I did find this piece painfully confused and overly ambitious. That said there were a few interesting, if somewhat embryonic, ideas. Dinosaurs getting ready in their scale-shaving courting rituals, partying like us humans do, and generally busying themselves with pretty stupid and uninteresting things. The narrator-come-scientist character offered a running commentary which generated laughs but soon became repetitive. A little more focus on dance and choreography would have been welcome as would a more streamlined presentation of the underlying ideas.
